How to create a team on Panka

In short

Anyone with a Panka account can do it, and whoever creates the team becomes its administrator. If you’re not in any team yet, after signing in tap “Create a team”; if you already have one, go to Settings → “Create a new team”.

In the form, give the team a name, choose whether you’ll use it for “Games with friends” or as “Team & league”, pick the format and check the name of the first season, then tap “Create team”. You can be administrator of at most 3 teams.

Who can create one, and how many

An account is all you need: you don’t have to be administrator of another team. Whoever creates the team becomes its administrator, and the team’s first season opens along with it.

Each account can be administrator of at most 3 teams. Every team you’re administrator of counts, even if someone else appointed you; the ones where you’re a player or coach don’t count, and nor does the demo. In Settings, in the “TEAMS” section, you can see how many teams you’re administrator of and how many more you can create. At the limit, “Create a new team” is greyed out and “Limit reached” appears.

Step by step

  1. Start from the right screen If you’re not in any team yet, on the “Welcome to Panka” screen tap “Create a team”. If you’re already in a team, go to Settings and, in the “TEAMS” section, tap “Create a new team”: the form from step 3 opens directly.
  2. Say how you’ll use it When asked “How will you use Panka?”, tap “Games with friends” or “Team & league”. The app shows you the suggested steps for that type of team: read them and tap “Create the team”.
  3. Name, type and format Type the “Team name”. In “How you will use this team” you can still switch between the two types. In “Sport” choose the format: 11-a-side, 8-a-side, 7-a-side or 5-a-side football, or “I decide for each match” if you sometimes play one format and sometimes another. The “City of the venue” is optional.
  4. The first season In “First season”, the “Season name” is already filled in with the current season, for example 2026/27: change it if you like. “Description” is optional, and so is “Association”, which only appears for league teams.
  5. Modules and cards For a league team there are also “Medical certificate tracking” and “Dues tracking”, already on: turn them off if you don’t need them. For every team, in “Images and cards”, there is “Image releases”, which is on: by leaving it on you declare that you may publish photos of the adults on the roster; if you turn it off, you won’t be able to share a player card or the MVP card.
  6. Tap “Create team” The button becomes active when the team name and the season name are at least 2 characters long. The team is created and the app opens on it. If it’s your first team, “Want to try the demo?” appears: you can go back over the steps with “See the suggested steps”, open a practice team with “Open the demo” or stay in yours with “Go to my team”.

“Games with friends” or “Team & league”

The choice changes what the app shows you, not how scores are calculated. With “Team & league” you get everything: tournaments and calendar, trainings with attendance, medical certificates and dues, and matches count towards the standings. With “Games with friends” the app stays minimal:

  • “Trainings” and “Tournaments” don’t appear in Settings, and the “Calendar” only shows matches;
  • medical certificates and dues stay off, and the creation form doesn’t offer them;
  • new matches don’t count towards the overall standings, because “Always friendlies” is on: ratings, scores and matchday winners remain;
  • the coach’s lineup has “Field both teams”, to split the call-ups into two sides;
  • if you come from the question “How will you use Panka?”, 5-a-side football is already suggested as the format.

You can change type whenever you like, without losing anything: an administrator does it in Settings → “General settings” → “Team type”. On the same page, in “Sport”, you can also change the format.

Once it’s created: the first steps

While the roster is empty, on the Home you’ll find “Bring the players in” and, under “QUICK ACTIONS”, “Add players” and “Invite to team”.

  1. Bring in the players There are two ways. You create the cards yourself in Settings → “Players”, with position and value, and send each person their own personal invite: whoever joins is linked to theirs straight away. Or you create a code in Settings → “Invites” and share it in the group chat: everyone creates their own card, and you then sort out position and value.
  2. Add yourself too, if you play Whoever creates the team has no card on the roster. If you play too, create yours in Settings → “Players” and choose your account in “Linked user”.
  3. Invite the coach If the coach is someone else, create an invite code for them with coach as the “Assigned role”.
  4. Create the first match From Settings → “Matches”. Then come call-ups, fantasy lineups and ratings.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I tap “Create a new team”?

You’re already administrator of 3 teams, the maximum for one account: under the row you read “You have reached the limit of 3 teams.”. Teams where you were made administrator count too.

Is whoever creates the team also the coach?

No, they’re its administrator. An administrator can also do what the coach does — call-ups, lineup and ratings — and on top of that plays the fantasy game. If the coach is someone else, invite them with a code that has the coach role.

Can I change the team’s name, format or type later?

Yes, if you’re an administrator. The name in Settings → “Team”; format and type in Settings → “General settings”, under “Sport” and “Team type”; the season name in Settings → “Seasons”.

Can I give two teams the same name?

Yes, but the app warns you: in the team selector at the top the two rows would be identical.

Do I have to choose the format once and for all?

No. You can change it from “General settings”, or choose “I decide for each match”: you pick the format when you create the match, and each format has its own credits and bonuses, in “Scoring parameters”.

Where can I find the suggested steps again?

In Settings, in the “DEMO & TUTORIALS” section, under “How to set the team up”.
