How to change player values on Panka

In short

A player’s value is their cost in credits, what you spend to field them in your fantasy lineup. It is changed by the coach or an administrator: Settings → “Players”, tap the card, type the new “Cost” and tap “Save”.

The old cost stays in the history, and fantasy lineups already saved don’t change. Alternatively, the staff can open a cost poll: the team votes, and when it closes the average becomes the new cost.

Credits or millions?

Credits. In the card form the field is called “Cost”, on your card it is “VALUE (CREDITS)”, and in the fantasy lineup the costs of the fielded players add up to the team’s credits. In the “Players” list and in “COST HISTORY” the number is followed by an M, for example 12M: it is the same value in credits.

  • In the form, the cost has to be entered as a whole number, from 1 upwards.
  • A new card created by the staff suggests 1; the card created by someone joining with an invite also starts at 1, and the staff then sets the value.
  • How many credits each person has per match is decided by an administrator, in “Scoring parameters” → “Credits per match”.

Who can change it

The coach and the team’s administrators. A player can’t change any cost, not even their own card’s: they can see it in their “Profile”, with its history, but can’t edit it.

Step by step

  1. Open “Players” In Settings, under “MANAGEMENT”, tap “Players”. The cards are grouped by department, and under each name is the current cost.
  2. Open the card Tap the player, or the pencil on their row: “Edit player” opens.
  3. Type the new cost The “Cost” field contains the current value: replace it with the new one. If it isn’t a whole number from 1 upwards, the app doesn’t save and warns you: “Cost must be a positive integer”.
  4. Tap “Save” “Player updated successfully” appears, and the list already shows the new cost.

What changes, and what doesn’t

  • The new cost applies to anyone who fields that player from that moment on, and to the following matches.
  • Fantasy lineups already saved don’t change: they keep the cost the player was fielded at. This applies even if whoever saved one reopens and edits it: as long as that player stays in, they count at the old price.
  • The cost plays no part in the score: it only serves to stay within the credits when fielding a lineup.
  • The old cost isn’t lost: on the player’s card, in “COST HISTORY”, you’ll find all the values with their dates, the most recent at the top. The card opens when you tap the player, for example in “Stats” → “PLAYERS”; yours is also in your “Profile”.

The cost poll

Instead of deciding on their own, the staff can ask the team what each card is worth. The poll is opened by the coach or an administrator, and only one can be open at a time.

  1. Open it In Settings open “Polls”, switch to “Costs” and tap the “+”. In “Poll settings” choose the “Deadline” and the scale in “Value range” (from 1 to 10, unless the team has changed it), then tap “Open the poll”.
  2. The team votes On the members’ Home, “COST POLL” appears with “Rate the costs”. By default the sheet starts from the current costs: each person changes the ones they don’t agree with, using whole numbers within the scale, and taps “Save”. While the poll is open they can go back to it with “Change your costs”. Nobody sees what anyone else has put.
  3. It closes At the deadline it closes on its own; the staff can also close it early from its row in “Polls” → “Costs”, with the flag icon, confirming with “Close”. For each card that received votes, the average, rounded to the nearest whole number, becomes the new cost and goes into the history.
  • By default you can’t price your own card: the staff can change this with “People can rate themselves”, and can exclude someone with “Who votes”.
  • With ten or more votes on the same card, the highest and lowest values are discarded before the average is worked out, one in every ten.
  • If nobody voted, or fewer than the “Minimum voters”, the poll ends with “No quorum” and no cost changes.
  • Fantasy lineups already saved don’t change, just as with a cost changed by hand.

If the cost doesn’t seem to update

When saving succeeds, the cost has changed. If you still see the old one somewhere, it is usually one of these cases:

  • you are looking at it in a fantasy lineup that was already saved, yours or your team-mates’ in “All fantasy lineups”: there the cost stays the one the player was fielded at;
  • you had already opened the match details before the change: go back and open them again;
  • the card is off the roster for the season and doesn’t open for editing: the app tells you to put it back on the roster from Settings → “Seasons”.

Frequently asked questions

Are player values in credits or millions?

In credits. The M you see next to the number in the “Players” list and in “COST HISTORY” stands for the same value: 12M is 12 credits.

I changed the cost, but the fantasy lineup still shows the old one: why?

A saved fantasy lineup keeps the cost the player was fielded at, even if you edit it afterwards. The new cost is paid by whoever fields the player from that moment on, and applies to the following matches.

Can the coach change costs?

Yes, just like administrators: from Settings → “Players”, or by opening a cost poll. Credits per match, on the other hand, are decided only by an administrator.

Can a player change their own value?

No. They can see it in their “Profile”, with its history, but only the coach and administrators can change it. They can, however, price their team-mates when a cost poll is open.

Does changing a cost change scores that have already been calculated?

No. The cost serves to stay within the credits when fielding a lineup; the score depends on ratings, events and bonuses.

Can a cost poll be cancelled?

While it is open, yes: from its row in “Polls” → “Costs”, confirming with “Cancel the poll”, and no cost changes. If it has already been applied, you can only delete it if it is the team’s latest cost poll, with “Delete and restore”: the cards go back to their previous price, except those changed by hand after the poll.
