How to finish a match and give the ratings on Panka

In short

Open the match and tap “Conclude match”. Enter the result, the scorers and, in “Votes and Ratings”, the rating sheet of everyone who played: a rating from 0 to 10 in half points, plus events such as goals and cards. With “Calculate scores on save” turned on, “Save and Finish” closes the match and calculates the fantasy scores straight away.

This is done by the coach or an administrator. Alternatively, the team gives the ratings: turn on “Open the ratings poll” and, when the poll closes, the averages become the rating sheets.

Who finishes it, and when

Matches are finished and rating sheets written by the coach and administrators. In the match details, the “Conclude match” row appears from the day of the match and stays until you finish it.

When the match is over, that is once its duration plus another 30 minutes have passed since kick-off, it gets the “To be closed” badge in the “Calendar”, and the “MATCH TO FINALIZE” card appears on the Home, with the “Finish match” button.

Step by step

  1. Result and scorers In “FINAL SCORE” enter the two teams’ goals. In “SCORERS” tap “Enter scorers”, give each called-up player their goals with “+” and tap “Confirm”.
  2. The coach’s lineup, if you like “Starters and substitutions” records the real lineup, if you haven’t entered it already. It doesn’t count for the fantasy game.
  3. Open the rating sheets In “Votes and Ratings” tap “Enter ratings”: the call-ups are grouped by position. Tap a player to open their “Rating”.
  4. Rating, comment, events In “VOTE” type a number from 0 to 10 in half points, for example 6.5; the field starts at 6. “COMMENT” is optional, and the whole team reads it in “Ratings”. In “EVENTS” count goals, assists, cards and the rest with “+” and “−”. Tap “Save Vote”: the rating sheet is saved straight away.
  5. Players who didn’t play Don’t give them a rating: for the fantasy game they are absent. To find who is missing, open the filter at the top and choose “Not rated”.
  6. Save and Finish Check the “Exclude from scoring” and “Exclude from the standings” switches, and leave “Calculate scores on save” on — it turns on by itself when there is at least one rating. Tap “Save and Finish”: “Match finished successfully” appears, and with “Share the result” you can send the result card.

If the scores have been calculated, the team gets the “New ratings and scores available” notification.

Scorers and events are not the same thing

The “SCORERS” make up the match report and the “GOALS” column in the statistics. For the fantasy game, what counts instead is the “Goal” event on the player’s rating sheet: a goal entered only among the scorers gives no points to any fantasy lineup. Whoever scores has to be recorded in both places.

The rating sheet events are “Goal”, “Penalty scored”, “Assist”, “Clean sheet”, “Penalty saved”, “Yellow card”, “Red card”, “Own goal”, “Penalty missed” and “Goal conceded”. They apply to every position, and an event the team has set to 0 points appears greyed out, with “Off”.

The coach sees the events but not what they are worth, because the rating must not depend on the score; the administrator also sees the points, the “TOTAL BONUS/MALUS” and the “FANTASY SCORE”.

The poll: the team gives the ratings

Instead of writing the rating sheets yourself, you can let your team-mates vote. The poll is opened while you finish the match:

  1. In “Finish Match” turn on “Open the ratings poll”. The summary appears underneath, for example “24 hours · everyone votes”: tap it to open “Poll settings”.
  2. Choose the “Deadline”, by default 24 hours later and at most 7 days; the “Minimum voters”, below which the poll produces no ratings (at least 2); the “Maximum voters”, which closes the poll automatically once reached; and in “Who votes”, where all the team’s members are included by default, tap anyone you want to exclude. “People can rate themselves” is off by default. Tap “Open the poll”.
  3. In “Votes and Ratings” record the events anyway: goals and cards are decided by the staff, not by the poll. The rating there is optional, and if you enter one it counts as your ballot.
  4. Tap “Save and Finish”: the poll opens and the team gets the “Rate the match” notification. With the poll turned on, “Calculate scores on save” disappears, because the scores are calculated when the poll closes.
  • While it is open nobody sees the averages, not even the staff: you can only see how many people have voted. In the match details, the “Ratings poll” row opens the controls: “Change the settings”, “Close now”, “Cancel the poll”.
  • It closes at the deadline, when the “Maximum voters” is reached or with “Close now”. For each called-up player, the average of the ballots becomes the rating, rounded to the nearest half point; with 10 ballots or more, the highest and lowest ratings are discarded first, a tenth at each end. If at least half the ballots say “N/R”, the player is left without a rating.
  • The scores are then calculated and the team gets “Ratings from the poll”. The events remain the ones entered by the staff, and a rating the staff wrote by hand isn’t replaced by the average.
  • If nobody voted, or fewer people than the “Minimum voters”, the poll writes no ratings: “Poll without a quorum” arrives and the rating sheets have to be written by hand.

Finished the match without a poll? In the match details tap “Open the ratings poll”, before writing the rating sheets. The default values are chosen by an administrator in Settings → “Polls”.

How to vote in the poll

While the poll is open, every team member the staff hasn’t excluded votes, the coach included, and the called-up players are the ones rated. You’ll find it on the Home, on the “MATCH TO FINALIZE” card with the “POLL OPEN” badge, with the “Rate your team-mates” button; in the “Calendar”, on the match, with “Rate the match”; or in the match details, in the “Rate your team-mates” row.

  1. For each team-mate give a rating from 1 to 10, in half points, with “+” and “−” or by typing it.
  2. Below 1 the rating becomes “N/R”: they played too little to be judged. A row left empty, on the other hand, is an abstention, and doesn’t count.
  3. Tap “Save”. Until the poll closes you can come back and change them, with “Change your ratings”.
  • Nobody in the team sees who voted what: once the poll is closed, everyone only reads the average.
  • You don’t rate yourself, unless the poll allows it: your row stays greyed out.
  • Next to the names you can see the match events, such as goals and cards, but you can’t change them.

Correcting a rating after the calculation

Calculated scores stay frozen: to change a rating you have to recalculate them. There are two ways.

  1. From “Votes and scores” Go to Settings → “Votes and scores” (the coach can also get there from “Enter ratings”, among the Home’s “QUICK ACTIONS”) and tap “Votes and ratings” on the match. If you tap a player, the app warns you: “Scores are already calculated. To edit the votes, clear the scores first.” Tap “Clear Scores”, correct the rating sheet and tap “Calculate Scores”.
  2. From “Edit Match” In Settings → “Matches” tap the match and then “Edit result and votes”. Make your corrections in “Votes and Ratings”, tap “Confirm votes” and “Confirm”, then “Save changes”: the app asks “Recalculate the scores?” and, if you go ahead, recalculates them by itself.

Clearing the scores also removes the “auto” fantasy lineups, which the recalculation generates again. If you leave without recalculating, the app reminds you with “Exit without recalculating?”.

Frequently asked questions

I finished the match without ratings: how do I add them?

From Settings → “Votes and scores”: on the match, which shows “Scores to calculate”, tap “Votes and ratings”, write the rating sheets and then tap “Calculate Scores”.

Should I give 0 to someone who didn’t play?

No, leave them without a rating. In the calculation a rating of 0 counts as no rating anyway: the player is left out of the average, and whoever fielded them pays the penalty for an absentee.

Why didn’t a goal give any points?

It was probably only entered under “SCORERS”. In the fantasy game what counts is the “Goal” event on the player’s rating sheet: add it there and recalculate the scores.

The poll ended without a quorum: what now?

The rating sheets have to be written by hand, from Settings → “Votes and scores” → “Votes and ratings”. If anyone voted, there you’ll also find “Turn … cards into ratings”, which uses the ballots that came in. Then tap “Calculate Scores”.

I finished the match by mistake: can it be undone?

Yes: in Settings → “Matches” open the match, choose “Upcoming” in “Status” and save. The match goes back to being still to play, but the ratings, rating sheets and scores already calculated are deleted.
