How to delete your Panka account

In short

In the app, go to Settings → “Your data” and tap “Delete account”. Read what goes and what stays, tap “Delete my account” and confirm with “Delete”. The account is deleted straight away and can’t be recovered.

Your sign-in goes and your profile goes. The scores, fantasy lineups and ratings you entered stay, but without your name, and your roster card stays with the team. If you no longer have the app, you can request deletion with the form on panka.app.

Who can do it, and before you start

Everyone can delete only their own account, whatever role they have in their teams. You don’t need anyone’s permission and you don’t have to re-enter your password. There is only one account, so deleting it applies to all the teams you are in.

Before you confirm, check two things:

  • if you are the only administrator of a team, appoint another administrator first: in Settings → “Members” tap a team-mate and choose “Set as Administrator”. Otherwise the team is left with nobody who can manage it;
  • if you want a copy of your data, request it first: the request from the app is sent from your account, and after deletion that account no longer exists.

Step by step

  1. Open “Your data” Go to the “Settings” tab and scroll down to the “ACCOUNT AND PRIVACY” section, the last one. Tap “Your data”.
  2. Tap “Delete account” It is the last item on the page, with the bin icon. A panel opens which, before asking you to confirm, explains three things: “What goes”, “What stays, and why” and “Your roster card”.
  3. Confirm Tap “Delete my account” at the bottom of the panel. The app asks for one last confirmation, “Delete your account?”: tap “Delete” to go ahead, or “Cancel” to go back.
  4. Done The message “Account deleted” appears and the app signs you out. There is no cooling-off period: the account is already gone.

What goes and what stays

Deleting your account doesn’t erase the team’s history: it removes your name from that history.

  • Your sign-in goes straight away, with your email and password, and so does your profile: first name, last name, username, date of birth and account photo. The devices registered for notifications are removed too, and so is the demo, if you had opened it.
  • The scores, fantasy lineups and ratings you entered stay, attached to a nameless profile: that way, standings that are already closed don’t change.
  • Your roster card stays, player card photo included: it belongs to the team and is no longer linked to you.
  • In backups, the data disappears when those copies expire.

In a team of just a few people, a score may be enough to work out whose it was: the name goes, the sporting history doesn’t.

Having your roster card removed too

Your roster card doesn’t go with your account, because it is team data. To have it removed, write to your team’s staff, or to privacy@panka.app.

In the app, it is deleted by the coach or an administrator: in Settings → “Players” they tap the bin icon next to the name and choose “Delete permanently”. Along with the card go dues, medical certificates and training attendance, and the player disappears from the statistics and from fantasy lineups already saved. It can’t be undone.

Without the app

If you have already uninstalled the app, open the “Deletion of a Panka account” page on panka.app and fill in the form with your account’s email address. Alternatively, write to privacy@panka.app from that same address. Deletion is carried out within thirty days and, once it is done, you are notified.

The same page is where “Delete account” takes you, on the “Before you continue” screen where the app asks you to accept the documents, if you would rather not accept them.

Requesting a copy of your data

There is no file to download: you request the copy, and a person prepares it. In Settings → “Your data” tap “Request your data”. The message is already written to ask for everything: leave it as it is, or write which part you need, then tap “Send the request”.

The request reaches privacy@panka.app together with your account’s email address, and you get a reply within a month. Without the app, you can write directly to privacy@panka.app from your account’s email address.

Frequently asked questions

Can I recover my account after deleting it?

No: your sign-in goes straight away and can’t be restored. You can sign up again, even with the same email, but it will be a new account, and your earlier scores stay with the nameless profile.

I just want to leave a team: do I have to delete my account?

No, not least because your account applies to all your teams. There is no button in the app to leave on your own: ask an administrator to remove you, from Settings → “Members” → “Remove from team”.

I’m not in any team and I can’t see Settings: what do I do?

Until you join a team, the app shows the “Welcome to Panka” screen. At the bottom you’ll find “Changed your mind?” with “Delete your account”, which opens the same panel with the same confirmation.

Can the coach or an administrator delete my account?

No: an account can only be deleted by its owner, from the app or with the form on panka.app. The staff can remove you from the team or delete your roster card, but the account remains yours.

What happens to my photo?

Your account photo is deleted. Your player card photo is part of your roster card: it stays with the team until the staff deletes the card.

After deletion, do my team-mates still see my name?

Your first name, last name and username disappear from your profile, and the scores stay without a name. Your roster card, however, keeps the name the staff gave it, until it is deleted.
